Nurb control objects/spline IKs supported in fbx?

Slightly off-topic as this actually just relates to the fbx importer (the same errors are present when using the SkinnedModelSample), but perhaps someone can help.

Just wondering if anyone knows about problems with nurb control objects (eg boxes to which joints are constrained), or spline IKs (which use nurb curves so may be the same problem) when importing fbx?

I've been getting a range of errors about these, and the presence of spline IK even screws up some other joints' translations in the animation.

Splines aren't exportable by the FBX format... So when you perform an export, the spline gets converted to a mesh (at least in Max)... This'll mess things up as you loose any modifiers that were placed on that object.
